This is just to say I have quit posting stuff here -- probably for good or so it seems at the moment. If you should care to, you can turn to flickr or picasa for the pictures, facebook for general run-of-the-mill stuff and twitter for rants and random shouts. That's all folks. God bless and goodbye.

Actually, I might just leave the blog here and stop caring about it. Getting rid of it might be too bad, although I'm not sure how long the blogger folks keep it running if there's no updates.

(On second thoughts, they probably take really long to cancel, if indeed they ever do it; I just recalled that a my first blog -- started in 2003 I think -- is still kicking around out there (when the whole blogger thing underwent some sort of change a few years back that old blog didn't get associated with my profile and I can't access it, but it's still there, floating around in the blogosphere -- handy term for once).

Anyway, who writes blogs these days since all people ever do anymore is post a lot of BS about themselves on facebook and such? Blogging -- the epitome of communication inflation gone wild -- remember the situation five years back? -- is no longer sufficiently in and plus it's too time-consuming and too complicated. Just go on facebook or wherever you can do stuff with one click and not have to worry about saving and publishing things, let alone about using the correct grammar or writing full-fledged sentences beginning with capitals and ending with periods (fullstops for the Brits). Meh.

Since I haven't posted anything for ages & since nobody is actually reading anything here - not that there is a whole lot to read of course - I will most likely be officially putting this blog into a state of (permanent) hiatus. Should you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.

Recently it occurred to me that it’s been a while since I last posted something. Not that I have anything of general interest to post, but since living online seems to be the only consistent form of life one has at times, certain obligations I suppose follow. Not that that in itself would give me a whole lot to write about -- it is simply a statement of fact, an affirmation of being.

From the land of ice and snow

My state of mind before leaving for the High Tatras last week was pretty much as follows: given the state of the roads and the weather conditions in the mountains, nothing short of a miracle could save us from being forced to spend the whole week in the bar: the forecast guys reporting impassable icy roads, the avalanche warnings growing worse by the hour... in short, what was in store for us was apparently a pretty dire six or seven days...

To make a long story short, the miracle did happen after all...
(I might actually get around to writing more later, but for now I'll just sit back, relax and let the pictures speak for themselves.)
